Turkish website named world’s most visited bus ticket platform

ISTANBUL

A Turkey-based online bus ticket booking platform has been named the most visited website in the world, attracting around 15 million online visitors last month, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The company, Obilet, is also one of the 10 most visited ticketing companies – including flight, train and all-in-one ticket providers – in the world, according to traffic tracker data on the SimilarWeb website.

Obilet CEO Yigit Gurocak said the company, founded in 2012, is looking to not only maintain its leading position in the industry, but also to earn a place among the top five companies in the world.

Pointing out that Obilet is a leader in its field at the national level, he said the company would launch a multilingual website in a few months to sell bus tickets worldwide.

“Additionally, we will also have introduced our hotel booking and car rental categories by the end of spring this year,” he added.

With its team of 250 people, Obilet is a platform on which today hundreds of transport companies sell their tickets.

It had previously been named by financial consultancy firm Deloitte as one of the fastest growing tech start-ups in Turkey.
