A new website links residents of Bristol and Bath to jobs in hospitality and tourism.
Those looking to find a job can create and upload a digital CV to Jobs Connect to be shared with recruiters, as well as search and apply for positions and test their skills via online games.
And companies can use the WECA-funded initiative to list their current vacancies.
Speaking at the website launch, Metro Mayor Dan Norris called Jobs Connect “a bit like a dating agency for jobs.”
He said: “Job seekers and companies upload their profiles and the website plays matchmaker. Individuals can take personality tests to determine their compatibility, and there are great tips to ensure you bring out your best side and stand out from the crowd.
“By launching Jobs Connect, I hope to facilitate people’s access to the varied roles offered by this dynamic industry.
“I also want to change perceptions. Hospitality does not mean a temporary solution of waiting tables to accompany you; it can be a varied and highly skilled career for life.
“We have amazing tourist attractions and great places to eat in the West of England. By developing Jobs Connect we are putting more people in touch with the many restaurants, pubs, hotels, bed and breakfasts, campsites and West of England attractions, enabling us to thrive in the future.
