Missouri: Osage Nation Launches New Website for Upcoming $60M Lake of the Ozark Casino

The Osage Nation, developer of the upcoming Lake of the Ozarks casino in Missouri, has launched a new website including details of the planned investment of $60 million, which is presented as a tourism stimulant and a job creator. It has an FAQ section and frequent updates.

Byron Bighorse, CEO of Osage Casinos said in a statement: “This new entertainment district will significantly expand the lake region’s tourism footprint, generating new jobs and economic opportunities. While this project has garnered considerable support and interest, we know lake area residents want more information, so we created this website to keep them informed every step of the way.”

The first phase of the development is expected to see a casino, restaurant, hangout and sports bar, according to the site. The building is should begin after approval from the US Department of the Interior, who must give the green light to start the project under federal law.

Developers plan to use local vendors and businesses as soon as possible for the projectaccording to the new website, while providing support to the community through contributions to community betterment projects, charities, first responders and local schools.

The site of the planned development is on the grounds of the former Quality Inn hotel, which is in the portion of the Lake District that falls under Miller County. The county currently attracts approximately $40 million annually with over 680 jobs; the planned complex would employ 120 residents with an estimated payroll of $7 million per year.

Although currently located in Oklahoma, the The Osage Nation has always had ties to Missouri, with a population of up to 200,000 at its peak. He operates several casinos in Oklahoma and would bring the first tribal casino to the Show-Me State.

The nation announced its plan late last year with the support of current and former state legislators who have represented the region. In February, Osage Casinos released the first renderings of its Missouri project in the Lake of the Ozarks.
