Ministry of Health and Health launches information website for fans of FIFA World Cup Qatar 22

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday launched a new website offering local and visiting supporters a wide range of information related to health services and health advice for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Chairman of the Strategic Health Command Group for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Dr Ahmed al-Mohamed, explained that throughout of the tournament, healthcare teams from MoPH, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Aspetar, Sidra Medicine, Qatar Red Crescent Society, Qatar Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior and QatarEnergy Health Services will come together to provide a wide range of medical and support services to teams, officials and specialist temporary worker groups such as news agencies, as well as local and visiting fans.

“The Ministry of Public Health is working with health partners in Qatar to ensure easy access to medical services for football fans. Qatar’s health sector has grown significantly in recent years and visiting fans will be able to access world-class medical services when needed,” Dr. al-Mohamed said.
“In the unfortunate event of a medical emergency such as serious injury or illness, fans can call 999 to seek prompt emergency assistance from Hamad Medical Corporation’s ambulance service. Operating 24 hours a day, Seven days a week, the ambulance service provides emergency assistance in the event of a life-threatening medical incident and transfer to an appropriate hospital emergency department.

“A key part of our healthcare strategy is to enable easy access to healthcare and reduce the need for supporters to travel to hospitals for non-emergency care. To support this goal, we have set up clinics medical facilities at football stadiums, fan zones and key accommodation sites run by public health teams to ensure that medical support is available in the places most visited by supporters.The advanced private health sector Qatar will also play an important role in providing medical services to visiting supporters during the World Cup period, with several private healthcare providers operating 24-hour emergency and emergency care services.
