Fraud hacks resort website and tricks customers | Bombay News

Mumbai: Police are trying to trace an unidentified online fraud for allegedly deceiving several people into hacking into the website of a resort on Aksa beach and accepting room booking amounts from them online.

According to Malwani Police, the owners of the resort discovered the fraud when several people landed on its property and claimed to have booked rooms through their website by making online payments. The station owners then contacted the police and filed an unknown fraud complaint for misleading customers.

Officers said their investigation revealed the accused put his phone number on the Green Village Resort website and accepted reservations from anyone who contacted the number.

The victims claimed that when they searched for hotel details online, they found this particular website and the phone number listed there as the authorized reservation number. “Most of the customers had made the payments online after contacting the resort’s room reservation number,” a police officer said.

“We have registered a case and are trying to trace the accused who had taken various sums ranging from 2,000 to 90,000 customers for online reservations in the last 15 days,” the officer added.
