CDC issues recommendations for Labor Day vacation

CDC says these suggestions are good for those who are or are not vaccinated

Columbia, SC (WOLO / CNN) – Labor Day weekend is fast approaching, but with the increase in coronavirus cases and the outbreak of the Delta variant, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) want you stay as safe as possible.

The CDC offers ways to do this to keep you and your family safe while you’re on the go to enjoy the long vacation weekend.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, says if you plan to visit loved ones, try to choose activities outside and limit visits and time spent near those who are not vaccinated. . Dr Walensky says this is one of the best ways to stop the transmission of COVID-19.

“Throughout the pandemic, we have seen that the vast majority of transmission takes place among unvaccinated people in closed indoor environments. “

While being outdoors can help reduce the chances of the virus spreading, Dr Walensky says those who are vaccinated or not should wear a mask.

“Like I said before, masks aren’t forever, but they are for now. Given the high transmissibility of the Delta variant and significant community transmission in this country, wearing a mask is the easiest way for anyone, regardless of vaccination status, to slow the spread of the disease. “

Dr Walensky says it could also be a good opportunity to talk to any of your family or friends who haven’t yet received a COVID vaccine about the benefits of getting the vaccine and maybe even suggests to take them to be vaccinated.

The CDC advises unvaccinated people not to travel while on vacation.

Mandy Gaither has more on why this holiday weekend should be taken with caution and safety as a priority.
